Plastic memories season 2 is the much-awaited sequel to the initial anime series that left all its viewers in tears at least once in almost each episode. The heart-warming sci-fi drama became extraordinarily fashionable and received lots of love from fans worldwide. Despite having only thirteen episodes in season 1, Plastic memories include a distinctive premise, excellent pace, and unforgettable characters.
The season 1 of plastic memories was released in 2015. It was directed by Yoshiyuki Fujiwara and produced by Doga Kobo. The storyline and screenplay was provided by Naotaka Hayashi. Japanese illustrator Okiura has designed the characters.

Plastic Memories Season 2 overview
The anime is based on the events of future where humanity heavily depends on Giftias. Giftias are extremely advanced androids virtually indistinguishable from humans. They are even capable of feeling emotions and expressing them. They live among humans and even form close bonds with them. However, they have a lifespan of just nine years. After those 9 years they turn hostile.
Tsukasa Mizugaki, the protagonist of the story, meets an attractive Giftia, Isla. The robot is nearing the completion of her time period. The story follows their journey as they face several ups and downs before finally facing a farewell.
The story shows a complex relationship between them and though it has a sad ending, it moves our hearts. During the ending and credits, there’s a cliffhanger that shows Tsukasa with a new partner. We would like to believe that it’s Isla. They ended season 1with a cliffhanger, this means that they wanted to build anticipation for the next installment.
Is Plastic memories season 2 happening?
There has been no official announcement till now on the release date. But the cliffhanger is a sign that the show may continue. This anime has been made directly, unlike most animes which are based on mangas and light novels. We have to wait a long time source to be made because it is based on original source.
This means that even if they start working on season 2 soon, season 2 may come out sometime in 2022- 2023. We surely have a bit of wait ahead of us. It has already been over 6 years since season1 was released.

You can watch season 1 on Aniplex or Hulu right now. So Plastic Memories Season 2 might be available on the same platforms too. As of now, there’s no English version of the series on the market. You’ll be able to solely watch it with English subtitles. The audio is originally Japanese.
Expectations
Fans expect to see Tsukasa and Isla meet again. It would be nice if Tsukasa finds a way to bring Isla’s memories back and they get back together. His work should help in bringing all other Giftias memories back too.
We will just have to wait and watch what the second season holds for us.
